RETURNING: Eventually!
Bowling is fun, no matter how bad you are at it. You can't say that about everything.
In fact, can you name one other thing in your life that is fun and not discouraging despite being terrible at it?
That makes bowling kind of unique.

Isn't league play kind of competitive?
Even when you are "competing" in bowling, it doesn't have to be competitive. For example, your game shouldn't change based on what your opponent does. There is no offense and defense. You do the best you can, they do the best they can, and who ever does better is the winner. Technically it is a competition, but you are only trying to bowl as good as you can.
Plus, there are handicaps and averages and stuff like that to make it as fair as possible no matter your skill level.

why does this league exist?
The League of Terrible Bowling exists for people who are bad at bowling to enjoy league play with the same confidence as better bowlers, because they are playing with other bad bowlers against other bad bowlers.
am i bad enough? What if i'm too good but i'd still like to join?
"Bad" is a pretty relative term. What's the worst you could do? You could score a zero by throwing your ball in the gutter 20 times in a row. Would any member of the League of Terrible Bowling be mad or look down on you? No. That mindset is the basic requirement to join.
- If your average score is below 120, you belong here.
- If your average score is 120-199 you can still join BUT you need to be extremely supportive to all players on all teams. Everyone should do that, but especially you. Understand where you are: You are a good bowler who joined a league designed for bad bowlers. You are not allowed to be outspokenly competitive and you will be held to the highest standard of sportsmanlike conduct.
- If your average score is over 200, I'm not sure why you're here. You are an advanced player.
How much does it cost?
Based on 2020, it will most likely be (or similar to) $9/week, each week, for 10 weeks. You will pay the bowling alley directly. It's 3 games each session, so that comes out to $3/game. Shoe rental is included. You must wear socks, or you'll have to buy socks there.
Additional costs will be team dependent. For example, the costs of making team shirts. This is not at all required, but it's up to each team. Same goes for food/drinks.

- There will not be a cash prize.
- If we end up having trophies, they will be funded by a sponsor.
- If your team is making shirts, you may wish to find a sponsor to help pay for those.

How do Handicaps work?
Handicaps are there to help keep things fair and prevent sandbagging/cheating.
For scoring, we want to get everyone's average up to ~200. To do that, we subtract each player's average from 200, then multiply that by 0.95, and that number is their handicap.
If a player has an average of 100, their handicap is 95. If they played a 110-point game, their handicapped score would be 205 (110+95).
After the first night of bowling, everyone will have bowled 3 games. Those 3 games will establish your starting average.
When a new player subs in for someone, their average will be determined by the 3 games they play that night.
